The decreased protein levels and cell morphologies of the vinculin knockout cell line generated in this study are in good agreement with the phenotypes previously reported when vinculin is deleted, thereby suggesting that our vinculin knockout system in cancer cells is behaving appropriately (Coll et al., 1995; Subauste et al., 2005; Volberg et al., 1995; Wang et al., 2019; Watabe-Uchida et al., 1998). The gene discussed is VCL; the disease is cancer.
