In virus-positive specimens, the expression of 3 genes was downregulated (Fig. 6C): zinc finger protein 804B (ZNF804B, FC = −1.49, FDR = 0.04), forkhead box E1 (FOXE1, also called thyroid transcription factor 2, FC = −1.01, FDR = 0.12), and thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor, the main autoantigen in Graves’ disease (TSHR, FC = −0.73, FDR = 0.16). This evidence concerns the gene FOXE1 and Graves disease.
