They found that, compared to the control mice, the expression of pyroptotic factors and proinflammatory cytokines, including NOD-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3), apoptosis-associated speck-like protein containing a CARD (ASC), cleaved caspase-1, gasdermin D (GSDMD), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), IL-18 and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), were significantly higher in the ovaries of PCOS mice.
