Upon multivariable Cox regression analyses, AIDS was the only predictor of TD [adjusted hazard ratio (aHR) 1.49, 95% CI 1.00–2.22, p = 0.051] after adjusting for treatment arm (darunavir versus dolutegravir aHR 1.24, 95% CI 0.85–1.82, p = 0.264) and CD4+ count (when compared to CD4 > 100 cell/μL: CD4 < 50 cell/μL aHR 1.22, 95% CI 0.76–1.96, p = 0.420; CD4 50–100 cell/μL aHR 1.42, 95% CI 0.86–2.35, p = 0.169). This evidence concerns the gene CD4 and AIDS.
