Currently, the drugs approved by the FDA to treat the cognitive symptoms of ATD are based on the modulation of neurotransmitters or enzymes, among which are the following: acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitors: donepezil [12,13], galantamine [14] and rivastigmine [15,16]; and the receptor antagonist N-methyl-d-aspartate also known as memantine [17].
