Compared to Gal-1 and Gal-3, which have been widely shown to play significant roles especially in cancer progression, inflammation, fibrosis, heart disease, and stroke, as well as some metabolic disorders [2,3], there are few studies on the pathophysiology and the binding preferences of galectin-4 (Gal-4) [4]. The gene discussed is LGALS4; the disease is metabolic disease.
