On the basis of data from the IMvigor210 study, Mariathasan et al. showed that increased pan fibroblast TGF-β response signature (F-TBRS), TGF-β ligand (TGFB1), and a TGF-β receptor (TGFBR2) in fibroblasts within the peritumoral stroma were associated with a lack of response and poorer survival to atezolizumab, especially in patients where CD8+ T cells were excluded from the tumor parenchyma [149]. The gene discussed is TGFB1; the disease is neoplasm.
