Compared to those not having AS, patients with AS had older age (p = 0.006), greater waist circumference (p = 0.002), higher SBP (p = 0.038), greater fasting glucose levels (p < 0.001), a higher prevalence of DM (p < 0.001) and HTN (p = 0.036), greater serum galectin-3 levels (p = 0.001), and were less likely to be female (p < 0.001). This evidence concerns the gene LGALS3 and hypertensive disorder.
