The exact aetiology for preeclampsia is still unknown, but the evolution of immunology in recent years greatly contributes to the idea of uteroplacental disorders based on oxidative stress, including cytokines (e.g., sFlt-1-soluble fms-like tyrosine-kinase-1, PlGF-placental growth factor) [11,12,13,14]. The gene discussed is FLT1; the disease is preeclampsia.
