FLT3 and acute myeloid leukemia: The pivotal trial ADMIRAL (2215-CL0301), a phase III open-label, multicenter, randomized study, demonstrated the advantage of gilteritinib versus salvage chemotherapy in patients with R/R AML with FLT3 mutation in terms of OS (9.3 months in the gilteritinib group versus 5.6 months in the chemotherapy group; hazard ratio (HR), 0.637; 95% confidence interval (CI), 0.490–0.830; p = 0.0004) and the rate of complete remission/complete remission with partial hematologic recovery (CR/CRh) (34% vs. 15.3%, p = 0.0001) [10].
