Here, we show that in human CNS tissue, robust levels of STING are present and higher in the brain microvascular and neuronal cells of several NDs, including Alzheimer’s disease (AD), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Parkinson’s disease (PD) and multiple sclerosis (MS), compared to non-neurodegenerative samples. This evidence concerns the gene STING1 and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
