GRIN2A and Parkinson disease: GluN2A subunits are dispersed from synaptic sites in anti-NMDAR encephalitis. Schizophrenia is associated with reduced NMDAR activity and/or presence in inhibitory GABAergic neurons, resulting in an imbalance of activity in the neuronal network. Further, there was a loss of GluN2A-containing receptors described. In Parkinson’s disease, synaptic GluN2A expression is increased.
