It was shown that the activation of the PI3KA/PDK1/AKT pathway by mitogenic factors (FGF2 and PDGF) promotes the expression of FOXM1, which, in turn, induces the expression of proliferation and survival-related genes, including CCNB1, CCND1, Survivinin, and PLK1, to promote the formation of lung fibrosis [50,68,77]. The gene discussed is AKT1; the disease is pulmonary fibrosis.
