It has been shown that lipocalin-2 levels are higher in obese compared to lean individuals [27], and that there lies a positive relationship between serum lipocalin-2 levels and the variables of obesity such as body weight and BMI [27,45], similarly to our study where the decrease in lipocalin-2 concentration was associated with a decrease in BMI. Here, LCN2 is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
