Both hypo- and hypercalcemic dams were associated with the upregulation of fatty acid binding protein 4 (FABP4), fatty acid synthase (FASN), and acetyl coenzyme A carboxylase 1 (ACC1) in the adipose tissue and liver of the offspring, leading to dyslipidemia and bone demineralization to maintain the serum level of calcium in the offspring [112].
