SREBF1 exhibits a steep and sustained increase in expression during the induction stage of adipogenesis,12 preceding the increases in expression of other known master adipogenesis regulators PPARG65 and CEBPA. 12,66 Thus, our results suggest that CCDC80 may contribute to the pathogenesis of NAFLD by preventing adipose tissue from performing its vital functions through adipogenesis. This evidence concerns the gene SREBF1 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
