We found that the adipose expression of four SBCs, GPX3, COL6A1, SFRP2, and TIMP3, correlates significantly with the key NAFLD-associated liver networks, which represent important functional liver pathways, including the biosynthesis of amino acids, sugar and fatty acid metabolism, and metabolic processes (Supplementary Figs. 2c–h and Table S14). This evidence concerns the gene TIMP3 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
