F2 and Thrombocytopenia: DIC is defined as the systemic activation of coagulation and not the consumptive coagulopathy [23], but many physicians consider DIC as a decompensated coagulation disorder, potentially due to the 2001 definition of overt DIC criteria by the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) that is defined as thrombocytopenia, significant prolongation of prothrombin time (PT), moderate or strong increase of fibrin related markers, and/or decreased fibrinogen level.
