A polyphenolic compound found in green tea called epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) targets the ATP-binding domain of HSPA5 and can overcome resistance to the standard anti-leukemic drug vincristine by inhibiting the anti-apoptotic function of HSPA5 to make B-lineage ALL cells more sensitive to chemotherapy [70–73]. The gene discussed is HSPA5; the disease is acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
