ALK and lung carcinoma: Shaw et al.38 conducted a global, randomized, phase 3 trial in 296 patients with advanced ALK-positive NSCLC treated with crizotinib, and the results showed that the percentage of patients who were alive without disease progression at 12 months was 39% in the crizotinib group, and the objective response occurred in 58% of crizotinib-treated cases, suggesting the beneficial role of targeted therapy in ALK-positive lung cancer patients.
