CRP and depressive symptom measurement: Nonetheless, our MR analyses provide weak evidence that serum CRP may modestly increase anxiety and depression symptoms and lower life satisfaction, which would be in agreement with conventional observational studies showing serum CRP to be elevated in a quarter of patience with depression (Osimo et al., 2019) and serum CRP to be elevated in subgroups of patients with anxiety disorders (Vogelzangs et al., 2013).
