Vitamin-D deficiency (VDD) is associated with greater inflammation by up-regulation of inflammatory markers like, IL-6, TNF-α, activated monocyte phenotypes (CX3CR1+and CCR2+) in HIV-infected patients, which have been related to tissue dysfunction, comorbidity development, AIDS progression, and death in HIV-infected individuals [22]. This evidence concerns the gene CX3CR1 and vitamin D deficiency.
