Intriguingly, after we analyzed the FOXP3 genotypic frequencies among betel chewers in our study, a statistical significant association was found between the oral cancer patients and the normal controls that carried the genotypic variant “T” of FOXP3 rs3761548, with a lower risk to develop oral cancer [AOR (95% CI) = 0.649 (0.437-0.964), p = 0.032] (Table 3). This evidence concerns the gene FOXP3 and lip and oral cavity carcinoma.
