Chen et al. found that DNA methyl-transferase 1 (DNMT1) is a target gene of miR-148a-3p and that it can regulate level of expression of transcription factor-1 (UTF1) in cervical cancer cells, while promoter hypermethylation is necessary for the initiation of UTF1 expression (Chen et al., 2021). Here, UTF1 is linked to cervical cancer.
