It was confirmed that miR-146a directly binds and downregulates the transcription factor Krüppel-like factor 4 (KLF4) to activate STAT3 and mediate epilepsy seizures by affecting synaptic plasticity in the pentylenetetrazole-kindling mouse model of epilepsy (Figures 3, 4) (56). The gene discussed is KLF4; the disease is epilepsy.
