Twenty years ago, upregulation of Beta-2-microglobulin and downregulation of Apolipoprotein A1, Transthyretin/Prealbumin, and Transferrin were reported to better predict ovarian cancer than CA-125/Mucin-16 alone, and this led to an FDA-approved test (OVA1) to be used in conjunction with other diagnostic tools (8, 9, 10). This evidence concerns the gene TTR and ovarian cancer.
