CRP and Sepsis: Inflammation is regarded to be an important factor influencing outcome after aSAH and has been demonstrated to play a role in early brain injury after aSAH, predicting poor outcome at 6 months independently of sepsis in a multivariate model, with baseline C-reactive protein (CRP) level of 17.5 mg/L on day 1 post ictus presenting 58% of sensitivity and 79% of specificity, whereas on day 3 post ictus, a threshold of 20.5 mg/L predicting poor outcome with a confidence level of 65% sensitivity and 68% specificity.13
