There was moderate to high certainty of evidence that male sex, older age (≥65 years), pre-existing CVD, chronic kidney disease (CKD) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), diabetes treatment (insulin and [inverse association] metformin) and high blood glucose level at admission were associated with COVID-19-related death or disease severity. This evidence concerns the gene INS and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
