There is robust evidence that vaccination against COVID-19, male sex, older age, obesity, higher HbA1c levels, high blood glucose level at admission, chronic use of insulin, metformin (inversely) and GLP-1RAs (inversely), pre-existing comorbidities, including CVD, hypertension, heart failure, liver disease, CKD, neuropathy, COPD and cancer, a high comorbidity index, and high levels of CRP, IL-6, AST and LDH, a low eGFR and a low lymphocyte count at admission are all related to COVID-19-related death and COVID-19 severity among individuals with diabetes and confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection. Here, CRP is linked to neuropathy.
