SLC5A2 and neoplasm: Not only do SGLT2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) have direct anti-tumor effects, but this class of drugs has beneficial pleiotropic effects including reversing hyperinsulinemia [21, 22], decreasing plasma glucose, producing a mild ketonemia, and reducing visceral obesity [23–30], all of which can improve survival in patients with cancer, particularly PDAC [31–35].
