EGFR and hydrops fetalis: According to the LUX-Lung 7 study, afatinib significantly prolonged progression-free survival compared with gefitinib in patients with EGFR-positive NSCLC.26 Although previous research has suggested that afatinib and osimertinib can contribute to the development of HF,27 whereas erlotinib and gefitinib have been associated with ischemic events, there is currently no comparison of the specific effects of TKIs on cardiovascular outcomes.28,29 To date, most studies have focused on osimertinib—the third-generation TKI.
