PRRT2 and Dystonia: While only a limited number of transgenic animal models have focused on these specific cell types, those harbouring dystonia gene, PRRT2 mutations (DYT10), found that those with mutations limited to the granule cells (GCs) recapitulated the behavioural phenotypes seen in Prrt2-null mice, with optogenetic stimulation of granule cells resulting in transient elevation followed by suppression of Purkinje cell firing.
