In the last two decades, skeletal muscle has been increasingly recognized as an endocrine organ that modulates immune function through various myokines, including interleukin (IL) 6, IL-7, and IL-15, or cell-to-cell interaction, rather than a pure locomotor.32 Sarcopenia may interfere with these interactions, suppress tumor immunity, and explain the worse outcomes for patients with sarcopenia. Here, IL15 is linked to sarcopenia.
