The overexpression of autophagy-related genes, such as factor EB (TFEB), lysosome-associated membrane protein type 2A (LAMP2A), and beclin-1, as well as autophagy inducers, such as rapamycin and lithium, can all exhibit neuroprotective effects in PD models [9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17]. This evidence concerns the gene BECN1 and Parkinson disease.
