Darvas et al. treated HPV18-positive human cervical cancer cells with sodium butyrate, which suppressed the transcription of cellular FADD-like IL-1β-converting enzyme (FLICE)-inhibitory protein (c-FLIP), hindered caspase-8 recruitment and, consequently, augmented HeLa cell sensitivity to tumor necrosis factor (TNF) α and TNF-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL)-induced apoptosis. This evidence concerns the gene TNFSF10 and cervical cancer.
