Several reports have shown that epigenetic changes are associated with induction of obesity and alteration of vitamin D metabolism by altering the expression of crucial genes such as VDR, CYP2R1, and CYP27B1 and thereby influence the VD-associated metabolites and abnormal homeostasis of lipid profile [3, 21]. This evidence concerns the gene CYP27B1 and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
