For GBM, incorporation of novel criteria for classification such as IHD1/IDH2 wild-type and IHD1/IDH2 (where IDH is isocitrate dehydrogenase) mutant genes led to newer grading for CNS neoplasm in GBM with improved diagnosis and focused treatment, providing superior prognosis with regard to clinical outcomes and patient survival rates (29). The gene discussed is IDH1; the disease is central nervous system neoplasm.
