FLG acts as a defense line (i.e., establishment of a skin barrier (GO:0061436)) that exhibits mutations in several cancer types (e.g., non-melanoma skin cancer, CRC, cervical cancer, and prostate cancer) (37), whereas KCNJ12 and KCNJ18 are involved in regulating transmembrane transport (GO:0034762), which is important in cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis (38). Here, KCNJ18 is linked to cervical carcinoma.
