CD34 and acute myeloid leukemia: Interestingly, AML-derived exosomes carry both myeloid-blast (i.e., CD33 and CD34) and leukemia-related (i.e., CD44 and CD123) markers (Szczepanski et al., 2011; Hong et al., 2014; Hong et al., 2017; Boyiadzis and Whiteside, 2018) suggesting that they mimic some of the cell surface markers present on their parent cells.
