A recent study in colorectal cancer has proved that F. nucleatum could induce PD-L1 expression by activating STING signaling and increase the accumulation of IFN-γ+CD8+ tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes, subsequently augmenting tumor sensitivity to PD-L1 blockade (Gao et al., 2021b). The gene discussed is CD8A; the disease is colorectal cancer.
