TRIM63 and cancer: In support of a potential role for MuRF1 in cancer-induced muscle wasting, the mRNA levels of Trim63 (which encodes the MuRF1 protein), are increased in skeletal muscle in several different pre-clinical models of cancer cachexia9,16,21,33,34 and, in our hands, are increased in the muscle of cachectic, but not in non-cachectic, patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC)35.
