Older age, male sex, coronary artery disease, diabetes mellitus, chronic statin use, SpO2/FiO2 ratio and body mass index, high levels of lactate dehydrogenase and high levels of inflammatory and infectious biomarkers (neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio, platelet count, procalcitonin, C-reactive protein) were identified as important risk factors for mechanical ventilation requirement and in-hospital mortality.
