SERPINE1 and hyperprolactinemia: Beyond differences in plasma lipids, patients with prolactinoma were characterized by increased platelet count, increased levels of fibrinogen, antithrombin III and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1, the increased plasminogen activator inhibitor-1/tissue plasminogen activator ratio and by lower concentrations of tissue factor pathway inhibitor, indicating that hyperprolactinemia may be complicated by hypercoagulability and hypofibrinolysis [6].
