In a cohort of children with uveitis, Sijssens et al. investigated the aqueous humor cytokine profile and found higher concentrations of IL-1, IL-2, IL-4, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, IL-12 p-70, IL-13, IL-18, IFN-γ, TNF-α, soluble intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (sICAM-1), soluble vascular cell adhesion molecule 1 (sVCAM-1), RANTES, Eotaxin (CCL11), and interferon-inducible 10-kDa protein (IP-10; CXCL10) in children compared with adolescents and adults [23]. This evidence concerns the gene IL4 and uveitis.
