CYLD encodes a deubiquitinating enzyme that is a key regulator of various cellular processes, including immune response, inflammation, death and proliferation, and directly regulates several keys signaling cascades, such as NF-kB and MAPK pathways, involved in the development of multiple diseases, including cancer, poor infection control, pulmonary fibrosis, neurodevelopment and cardiovascular dysfunction. This evidence concerns the gene NFKB1 and pulmonary fibrosis.
