Various physiological and pathophysiological roles of P2X7 have also been found in many organs and tissues including those of the bone [4], cardiovascular system [5,6], eye [7], exocrine system [8], gastrointestinal tract [9], kidney [10], liver [11], lung [12], nervous system [13,14], skeletal muscle [15] and skin [16], and it has further been involved in cancer [17,18], pain [19] hematopoiesis [20], and metabolism [21].
