Several studies, including ours, suggest that Gal3 can promote tumor progression and metastasis in many cancers through various mechanisms such as angiogenesis, homotypic and heterotypic aggregation, tumor-endothelial interactions, inhibiting apoptosis, and evading host immune response [2,4,18,37,88,100] (Figure 4).
