BCL2 and Hepatic steatosis: Akebia saponin D reduced lipid droplet accumulation in BRL cells, attenuated hepatic steatosis, and elevated the expression of Bcl-2/adenovirus E1B 19-kDa interacting protein 3 (BNip3) and phospho-AMPP; it also improved mitochondrial function and autophagy modulation, inhibited rotenone-induced BRL cell apoptosis, elevated Bcl-2/Bax ratio, and suppressed the level of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) and mitochondrial membrane potential loss in rotenone-treated BRL cells and rat liver mitochondria [154,155].
