Ma et al. analyzed the role of TRPC5 in adriamycin-resistant human breast cancer cells (MCF-7/ADM) and provided evidence that upregulation of TRPC5 expression and activity leads to an increased expression of multidrug efflux transporter P-glycoprotein, responsible for adriamycin clearing from breast cancer cells [22]. This evidence concerns the gene ABCB1 and breast carcinoma.
