In a recent single-cell study, myeloma cells with 1q21 gain worsened the immune system by increasing the prevalence of tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs), decreasing the activity of effector NK cells and the gene burden of SLAMF7, leading to an aggravating immune microenvironment and the proliferation of myeloma cells [26]. Here, SLAMF7 is linked to plasma cell myeloma.
