AGTR1 and hypertensive disorder: Their results showed that garlic reduced SBP by 16.3 mm Hg (95% CI 6.2–26.5) and DBP by 9.3 mm Hg (95% CI 5.3–13.3) compared with placebo in patients with elevated SBP.[169] García-Trejo et al[170] showed that allicin treatment attenuated hypertension and improved the renal and cardiac dysfunctions; decreased the vascular reactivity to angiotensin II, AT1R overexpression, and preserved morpho-metric parameters; also down-regulated Keap1 and increased Nrf2 expression, up-regulated the anti-oxidant enzymes, and reduced oxidative stress in a rat model of CKD.
