Using tau and ubiquitin immunohistochemistry, numerous fibrillary tangles and senile plaques were observed in the hippocampal cortex, consistent with a definite diagnosis of AD with Braak & Braak stage V–VI [28] in all but one patient (EXT_144, presenting repeated ICH from the age of 42 and seizures but with no marked cognitive decline), who displayed no neurofibrillary tangles. The gene discussed is MAPT; the disease is Mental deterioration.
